Aino Rekola

Researcher, Environmental Policy Centre

Aino works as a researcher in the Environmental Policy Centre of the Finnish Environment Institute in Helsinki. During her career she has gained serveral years’ experience from working in different ministries responsible for developing environmental policies in Finland (2006-2015). Currently her interdisciplinary research is focused on environmental justice in planning as well as on co-production of sustainability knowledge during planning. She is experienced in using action research in studying the dialogue and social learning between researchers and planners on environmental justice and involving youth to planning. She has experience in working in several national and international research projects and interdisciplinary consortia. Since 2020, she has been affiliated also to the University of Tampere where she is a Doctoral Candidate and a member of the Tampere Cultural and Political Sociology Research Group (2020-).

Johan Munck af Rosenschöld

Senior Researcher, Climate Change Programme, Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE)

Dr. Johan Munck af Rosenschöld works as a senior researcher at the Climate Change Programme, Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), focusing on climate change adaptation policy and governance. He is interested in exploring novel ways of generating and utilizing new knowledge in the context of adaptation, such as collaborative scenario exercises. For the last decade or so, he has studied the implications of project-driven, or “projectified”, environmental policy and governance on achieving long-term objectives and institutional change in Finland and abroad. Before joining SYKE, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS), University of Helsinki, Finland.

Sara Todorovic

Researcher, Freshwater Centre

Sara works as a researcher and project coordinator in the Freshwater Centre at the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) in Helsinki, Finland. Her work and interests include research and development tasks related to flood and drought risk management, sustainable use of water bodies and climate change adaptation, as well as international water issues. She holds a master’s degree in geography and geoinformatics from the University of Helsinki (2020), where she studied the socio-economic risk factors in urban residential fires using spatial statistical methods in collaboration with the rescue services.

Mikael Hilden

Professor, Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE)

Dr. Mikael Hilden is a Professor at the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), and is responsible for leading its Climate Change Programme. His key research interests are policy assessment and evaluation, in particular in relation to innovations, societal transitions and the use of natural resources. He has analysed policies and practice related to the management of natural resources and climate change and studied national adaptation processes across Europe and domestically in Finland.
